What Burlington Needs Now

Eighteen commitments in five areas: value for your tax dollar, traffic and congestion, protecting our waterfront and greenspace, the right development in the right place, and community safety. It builds on a record you can check, and it's a plan to finish the work. All 18 are listed above.

That's a choice we'll make together. I'll bring forward a 2027 budget with costed options, including a 0% increase and one at inflation, so you can see the trade-offs. I'll keep the property tax rebate for low-income residents, free transit and program fee waivers, and keep fighting to move more than $18 million a year in federal and provincial costs off your property tax bill.

I brought every level of government to one table, and Burlington now has its first congestion management plan. Next term I'll implement it, including traffic signals that respond to traffic in real time. I'll also launch an on-demand transit pilot to supplement regular transit and Handi-Van, and expand traffic calming.

Near our GO stations, not in the middle of established neighbourhoods. I moved Burlington's Urban Growth Centre from downtown to the Burlington GO station, stopping 30 more downtown towers, and the Ontario Land Tribunal refused towers at the waterfront. Next term I'll lead reform of the Ontario Land Tribunal to restore local planning and avoid costly delays.

I'll uphold our rural-urban boundary and implement the citizen-led rural agricultural plan, secure LaSalle Park's future, fight quarry expansion, and press the province to intervene to save Millcroft Greenspace. Our new Climate Plan will deliver tree canopy, cleaner transit and flood protection.

We need clear rules for data centres, and I've committed to putting them in our new Official Plan, so these proposals are decided on Burlington's terms.

I'll set clear rules for e-scooter safety, expand traffic calming and keep pushing to restore school-zone speed cameras. I'll continue investing in fire, police, paramedics and social supports, and update our bylaws so they're known and enforced, especially in parks. Through Ontario's Big City Mayors, I'll keep pressing every level of government to act on mental health, addictions and homelessness at SolvetheCrisis.ca.

I created Pipeline to Permit, the first of its kind in Ontario, to get housing approved faster. Next term I'll expand it to economic development, so business investment moves faster too. And I'll partner with business and the community to secure a new rink and community amenities at 1200 King Road.
