Hello Friends of Freeman Station,

image005Freeman Station was a very popular attraction at two recent show events. The top photograph is Mark Gillies (L) and Brian Aasgaard (R), 2 Friends of Freeman Station who volunteered to man the booth at the Ancaster Model Train Show held at the Ancaster Fairgrounds on Sunday January 26th. This extremely popular show drew a huge enthusiastic crowd from a wide area across southern Ontario.

image008The second photograph is Keri Dunham, an Ireland House volunteer wearing her beautiful turn of the century dress, from the same era when historic Freeman Station was built in 1906. Keri dropped by the Freeman Station display at the Heritage Burlington Show held last Saturday February 1st in the Burlington Library.

Thanks to John Mellow and Dennis Hrabowsky, both Friends of Freeman Station for sharing these photos with us.

. Others donated generously, purchased Freeman Station T-shirts, while others volunteered their services to help in any way they could. We sincerely thank all of you for your contributions.

Funds raised will be used towards the financial shortfall now faced by Friends of Freeman Station. Our plan is to have the foundation built in the spring. After the Freeman Station foundation has been built, the building will be lowered down and then secured. Once this is completed, renovations can begin almost immediately on the building. We are all anxiously looking forward to that day.

Our immediate goal is to raise another $10,000. To date we have raised about $20,000 for the foundation just from memberships and donations. The foundation will cost about $30,000. We really need your help right now. Once renovated, Freeman Station will be a wonderful place to proudly take your children or your grandchildren, to show them how Burlington evolved from a small farming community, and the very important role played by Freeman Station, and how it all evolved into this beautiful city that we are so proud to call our home. There is a great story to tell.

Freeman Station is yours and mine to preserve and be enjoyed by future generations to come. If we all do our small part, this project will be completed sooner than later, and then enjoyed by so many.

If you have not renewed your Friends of Freeman Station $10 Membership for 2014, please do so as soon as you can. If you are not yet a member and wish to join, visit our website at where you will find a Pdf form to print off. Every single dollar raised will go directly to preserving Freeman Station. Without your immediate financial support the Freeman Station restoration cannot move forward and be completed. Any donation greater than $25.00 will receive a charitable tax deductible receipt.

Our mailing address is: Friends of Freeman Station, 3023 New Street, P.O. Box 91536, Burlington, Ontario, L7R 4L6. Please make your cheque payable to: Friends of Freeman Station.

Thank you for your continued support,
