In parrallel news, City planners were ‘dreaming up’ New City Park at Kerns Road & Dundas TWO YEARS before they put it to Council. Yup, TWO years. When the land was finally purchased in 2002, local ciitizenry were never ‘invited’ to the so-called ‘public’ consultations. Rather, sport, tourism and business groups were.
One of the pre-conditions for the Bruce Trail ‘committment’ to this evolving park scheme was LOCAL involvement – well, what happened to that on route? Where is EVIDENCE of public ‘adjacent community’ consultation about the DEVELOPMENT of this parkland area for ALL to use? It’s non-existent.
Compound this with the recent influx of millions of dollars of PanAm monies that have RE-DESIGNED the park in the 11th hour to meet THEIR site requirements and we’ve got ONE BIG MESS unfolding in New City Park. Public consultation, since Dec, has amounted to ‘nearly 30′ people in ONE Ward giving the NEW scheme the ‘go-ahead’. THIRTY people should NOT decide what the future of this parkland area will be for generations to come.
This entire park ‘development’, especially in recent months, is a sham & fiasco, let alone an ecological disgrace with it’s now THREE fenced-in fields (ie. ‘members only’) of ‘tournament level’ artificial turf in a recognized UNESCO World Biosphere supposedly PROTECTED by the Greenbelt Act and the NEPlan …This ‘developing’ mess on top of the escarpment goes on & on …
WHY are ‘Planners’ DECIDING the ‘fate’ of this, our largest city park, without, at the very least, ASKING us what WE want? Something is very wrong with this so-called ‘democratic’ process.
Hopefully, Marianne, when you’re in office, you can start to ‘clean house’ of the long-standing planning pundits smugly perched on the back-benches at City Hall.

hear hear marianne i will support you the best i can but we need all the residents to suppot y accross this city there are at the moment some criminal activities going on at city hall and the city staff and the present mayoy know who is responsable for this criminal activity staff developers do not get a vote tis is our city not theirs to get rich at our expence or our future generatons expence . its got to stop we need accountability open truthfull accounting of acions we need to be informed long before an event or even a thought nothing must be taken for granteed plans canot be made by city staff or developers or councilors who get funding from developers that is a conflict of instest city staff developers mayor j and anyone involved in tis illegal practice should be criminaly charges public money and plans for this cit mnust be first put before the taxpayers public for approval discusion too tis is like living in a police state only its our city staff and developers who are the mafia

yes marianne this is a city run by developers and city staff who get over paid for bad job done without our input too city staff are paid far too much for making mistakes ad lots of the staff dont live in burlington as they cant affort to live hear . if we could defere our property taxes like developers do with our money it would be a great place to live these cty staff developers have burlington sown up and its tax payers people this is our city get up and do something to stop all this criminal action going on in our city with our money what kind of place are we going to leave our children grandchildren high taxes high priced housing high rentals we need more down town low rise housing at reasonable rents or to own far less pricey than is asking price now it is not easy to find a place to rent a i bed apt downtown for less than a $10000.00 a mnth plus parking to buy a place down town forget it the developer has bought most of the land at our expence and is using us our city to make themselves rich so they can live elsewere . this has got to stop we must take our city back from the city staff who are public servants and the developer too what do you people of the city of burlington say what acton will you all take to make this happen i will suport marianne and rick goldren to take our city back from the developers will you all do the same lets have some democracy at least in the city of burlington and its needed in canada too

what businesses down town we only have many eating places and pubs no great shopping down town its dead on mondays as most stores are closed only one big food store now beer store wine store and lots of vandals on a friday sat wed nights we dont even have a people park any more as it is a commercial enterprize park not for flying kites or playing frizby ot just a walk in the park its too many people buying in the park not at the stores on brant st and parking to take the kids to the swings is a crime and leave the beach way area alone it does not need any thing doing with it its ok as it is we like it that way no parkng fees and a nice walk on the side of the lake too downtown is like a village not for tourist to come visit nothing to see . the music centre is for a few people to have their own music club most seniors cant afford to go to it let alone eat out or shop down town only for food at no frills not much choice and to stop all this traffic on lakeshore we need small 8 seater electric busses not cars a premium should be charged to take a car down town or go to the mall to shop then the parking problem will be no longer a problem keep the downtown for the residents who live down town a few small shops to serve the rsidents that is it that is what we need

why did the council need this pear because they neded to have their freinds make money thats why not for the public intrest we should now leave what remains of the unfinished peir as it is to show future cirty council and future city staff what a big blunnder they made with our money we can put a notice up for tourist to see what a city planner and a mayour councill do wo missmanage tax payers money for their own end the city planner cirt manager and all who were involved in this dumb expencive progect should be fired and made to payy back the burlington tax payers and the taxpayers should be taking these city plannes city manager council mayor past present to court to get our money back lets make t the number one tourist atraction in burlington and ontario as no one else has a big attraction like our pe. and we should put up large pictures of the people involved in this big blunder too for all to see what not to do with our tax dollars r

hear is another big problem the city and both goverments prov and fed have not done things to get cars off the roads of this city country too . like europe we need high speed trains and monorails too in the city and accross the counrty from coast to coast and into the usa linked up to at least the usa and all accross canada it is much cheaper less poluting and gets you there faster in great comfort too ben using it all over europe for years the auto industry in this area could build these trauins we have the manpower and the plants to do that all across ontario lots of work for laid off aurto workers steel workers too it can be done in canada burlington too intead of roads destroying the county put in high speed rail tracks they run very quiete too do not pollute and are very clean too . stop spending money on raods spend it on trains instead get mini electric busses to take people to the train station and run all over burlington or any city 24 / 7 days a wek it is being done every were but north america why not us we have given our hard earned money to he auto indusrty with no payback the high speed train and rapid transit will pay for itself they dont want out money if trains are built faster cheaper better travel too a big charge should be made to people using any roads only for emergency cars and more bikes to be used too like they do in monteal now get the cars off the rd pron]blem solved by doing that alls these trains are better than a airoplain dont have to g to airport or check in hours before a trip just hop a high speed train from coast to coast and into usa too only ned trains to airport to go to the rest of the world

hi Marianne,
I know we have to get better city planners who have the same concerns as we residents do that we don’t want anything on old Lakeshore rd that is not there now no more city planners or developers to destroy our Lakeshore these city planners developers don’t usually live in our city so they are only looking at the money they make at our expense of destroying our old lake shore rd . it will block out the view i and many others have of the waterfront and allso there is a seniors residence across the st on Lakeshore rd they do not want to be living with all the noise and loss of there view or a high rise in front of their lounge or dinning room can you imagine trying to eat dinner or breakfast with all that noise dirt machines working digging all day then to have a great big high rise smack bang in front of your window this is not on for any of we city residents no matter what the city planner says he was not voted into office we the people have the vote not him kits our money our city too tell the city planner i would love to have him fired from his job he is not getting payed to destroy our city. Now or later and how much is he getting from the developer or OMB
